Rancho Bernardo Inn
We played a better ball tourney at Rancho Bernardo Inn today. Not much from a rules perspective, other than one player in my group having to do the "ride of shame" due to his ball being unexpectedly OB. At least it wasn't the "walk of shame."
It never hurts to hit a provisional.
I think the handicap rules for this format are interesting:
- Men get 90% of their handicap, women get 95%.
- If partners are 8 strokes apart, or more, then both players get another 10% reduction

Thanks to our handicap chair, Noel Alfonso for this info.
The disparity in handicap adjustment between men and women should be eliminated of for no other reason then it is sexist.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'll open another can of worms. Playing the forward tees in a tournament should be based on height and/or weight. I've played with women in tournaments that are 5-8 to six foot and can hit the ball as far or farther then men. Allowing them to hit from the forward tees constitutes an unfair advantage. Why shouldn't 5-4 men weighing 130 lbs also be able to hit from them?
